A Pre-Fajr Morning Flow: Moving in Remembrance

This daily morning flow begins 50 minutes before Fajr, in the quiet space where night is still present and the world has not yet stirred. It is a time to tune in—before notifications, before obligations, before the mind becomes crowded.

The practice opens in stillness. Gentle breathing settles the body as intention (niyyah) is set, inviting awareness of the heart and gratitude for another day. From there, movement unfolds slowly and intentionally.

Each vinyasa is paired with soft dhikr—simple phrases of remembrance woven into the rhythm of breath and motion. As the body flows from one shape to the next, the repetition of sacred words anchors the mind, allowing movement to become a form of prayer. The goal is not intensity, but presence.

Postures are accessible and fluid, designed to awaken the spine, hips, and shoulders while maintaining a sense of calm. The practice builds gentle warmth, then gradually softens, preparing both body and spirit for Fajr.

As the adhan approaches, the flow transitions into seated stillness and quiet reflection. The body feels open, the breath steady, and the heart oriented toward remembrance—ready to meet prayer with clarity and ease.

This is not about performance or perfection. It is about beginning the day aligned, moving with purpose, and remembering Allah through breath, movement, and awareness.
